Spend A Night On The Couch!

Set up a night to leave the troubles of the day behind ... have several episodes of your spouses favorite show ready to go, along with some munchies, a favorite dessert, a bottle of wine ... whatever your spouse would enjoy.  Settle into some comfy clothes, dim the lights, and get comfortable on the couch.  Enjoy the show!

Summer Romance

Start thinking about getting away with your spouse for a little summer romance ... even a couple of nights can do wonders for your physical relationship!  To be free, together, is always special in the busy lives we lead.  No kids, no friends, no pets, no family, no work, and minimal technology ... NO DISTRACTIONS ... really just the two of you!

Do Something Nice in the Bedroom!

Surprise your partner with something special for the bedroom ... maybe a favorite scented candle, a splurge on new sheets, a body pillow to help those aches, or a bottle of champagne chilling!  This is to be done without any hidden agenda, and no expectations beyond a thank you for your thoughtfulness ... enjoy!

TAKE A MARRIAGE DAY!

We take days off to attend to our children, to help an elderly parent, or eventually for our own mental health needs!  What could be more important than to attend to our marriage ... why not coordinate with your spouse to take a marriage day and sleep in, do breakfast together at the local diner, have a long talk over leisurely coffees on the deck, take a interesting walk together, sit in the park ... whatever might fit your moods.  And turn off the technology!

TAKE A WALK!

Do you and your spouse have a special place to take a walk, not too far from home ... a bit romantic, filled with happy memories?  A beach, a hiking path, a park, a certain NYC neighborhood ... if the answer is yes, invite your partner to go again soon!  If the answer is no, research a little and invite your partner on a type of walk you think he/she will just love!

Clutter

Maybe this is a good week, since it's spring cleaning time, to deal with the clutter that just irks your spouse.  Whether it's piles of paperwork taking up space on a counter, or a bathroom overfilling with products, or a hall closet stuffed to the brim, or a garage bay that can no longer fit the car .... tackle a project and surprise her/him!

Just Do It!

Spring has finally come, and with it a holiday week cooking special dinners, visiting with relatives, etc., and oh yes, the kids are home from school -- it's spring break!  A good time (and an easy time) to show your spouse that you care -- as the old Nike slogan suggests, "Just Do It"!  If you see something that needs doing -- just do it!  Empty the dishwasher, feed the baby, take the dog for a walk, pick up the last minute groceries ...

Do You Spoon?

So, the nice behavior of the week is to attend to your spouse with some spooning ... check out the 37 definitions listed at the Urban Dictionary for some helpful thoughts.  In reading blog discussions on the subject, seems most would choose for spooning in one's birthday suit !

I LOVE YOU

If you're a spouse who rarely says I love you, believing that your actions speak for themselves, preferring that behaviors do your talking -- consider changing it up now and then by using those three words.

On the other hand, if you're a spouse who says I love you all the time, such that it feels more like a habit -- one without thought or content, try expressing those three words with additional words of explanation and as well, letting a nice behavior do your talking at times.

From My Top 10 List

Of all the nice behaviors one can selflessly give to their spouse, allowing him/her to "sleep in" is such an exquisite gift.  Important in making this happen is your ability to assess what you will have to do to really make this gift possible: plan the night before, turn off the phone in the bedroom (same for a cell or blackberry by the bed), sneak out to tend to the kids/pets-maybe even taking them out of the house for a few hours, leave a note by the bed that there's coffee waiting ...  a thoughtful plan is required!
